Fear. What are you afraid of?

What are you afraid of? Make a list.  Many of my previous articles I have mentioned that your mindset is key to your success in real estate but really it is your success in life. Your mind tells you what you are afraid of.  So ask it and write them down.

Why make a list?  I have also mentioned in other articles that your mind will create scenarios/thoughts that support your thinking.  So if it is a fear you have on your mind, your mind will seek out information to support it. Now once you write it down, it is outside of your mind and becomes an external question to deal with. It also immediately reduces your fear.   Why is that?  Because, now because the fear is external (I know you still feel the emotion), you can begin to search for people, things, or actions to overcome this fear.

Some of the fears I come across in real estate transactions follow:

  1. What if I offer too much?
  2. What if I could have sold for more?
  3. What if they don’t accept my offer?
  4. What if they don’t like me?
  5. What if I make a mistake?
  6. Etc.

There are so many fears that Buyers, Sellers, Agents, Brokers, Title Companies, etc. could make that just thinking about them can be overwhelming.  Yet there are millions of real estate transactions that are completed with all these fears being present.

I believe one of the reasons the fears are overcome is because each person asks the questions and concerns on their mind to the professional team they are surrounded by or they go out searching for someone that has experience in the type of transaction they are doing.  As a minimum they learn what questions to ask so the fear is addressed and resolved.

Now this article could go on for pages.  I guess what I really want to say to you is that no matter what fear you have.  There are people (professionals or people with experience) that can help.  You do not have to, nor do I recommend doing a real estate transaction alone and if there are other fears, seek out those that can help.

Real estate and Life is a team effort.  Truly successful people have a great personal and professional team helping them navigate whatever business/life they choose to follow.  You have the same opportunity to create your support team that will help you move forward in your real estate transaction and life.
